Roles of ICT in Recent History


ICT PLATFORMS FOR CHANGE
In this lesson I've learned the history of ICT platform. It has a big impact in our modern technologies now because it give importance on how people can share information to other.


What is ICT Platform or ICT Roles?  


   Information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D) refers to the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) toward social, economic, and political development, with a particular emphasis on helping poor and marginalized people and communities. It aims to help in international development by bridging the digital divide and providing equitable access to technologies. ICT4D is grounded in the notions of "development", "growth", "progress" and "globalization" and is often interpreted as the use of technology to deliver a greater good.Another similar term used in the literature is "digital development".ICT4D draws on theories and frameworks from many disciplines, including sociology, economics, development studies, library, information science, and communication studies.

Lesson 9

 Interactive Multimedia

Interactive Multimedia- any computer-delivered electronic system that allows the user to control, combine, and manipulate different types of media, such as text, sound, video, computer graphics, and animation.


Multimedia Contents

1. VideosThrough video hosting sites, you can take a video and show it to the entire world.
2. Sound, Music, or AudioIf videos are too much for you, you can always record sounds. You can now share your sound bites to the entire world.
3. Online games Game developers now create what is called “browser-based games.” You do not need to install these games to your computer as they run in most updated web browsers 
4. Online tests Online survey forms and tests that automatically display the results when finished.
5. Courseware Online courses that simulate the classroom online.
6. Podcasts. An episodic series of audio or text files streamed online.
7. Vodcasts An episodic series of video streamed online.

Online Platforms as Tools for ICT Content and Development 

In this lesson I've learned a lot of platforms that we can used and some of them are every one know and others are not.

Online Platform- a computer connected to the internet through which the user can access and participate in many networked sites, including social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogs, and various web pages. 

EXAMPLES OF ONLINE PLATFORMS
1.Social Mediawebsites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
a) Twitteris an online news and social networking site where people communicate in short messages called tweets.

b) Facebookis a popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family, and colleagues.

c) Tumblrlets you effortlessly share anything. Post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos from your browser, phone, desktop, email or wherever you happen to be.


2. Bloggingfocuses on the content and design. It typically looks like a newsletter where you are given options to change the design to your liking. 

a) Wordpress an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. 


b) Tumblris a popular microblogging platform designed for creative self-expression.


c) Bloggeris a blog-publishing service that allows multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries.


3. Presentation/Visualizations- a primary goal of this is to communicate information clearly and efficiently via statistical graphics, plots and information graphics.

a) Prezi the presentation software that uses motion, zoom, and spatial relationships to bring your ideas to life and make you a great presenter

.
b) Zoho is a cloud software vendor that ships Saas products from its development centres in India, its biggest centre is near Chennai in South India.

c) Slideshare- is a hosting service for professional content including presentations, infographics, documents, and videos.



d) Mindmeisteris an online mind mapping application that allows its users to visualize, share and present their thoughts via the cloud.


4. Cloud Computing is the delivery of computing services—servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, intelligence and more—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale.

a) Google Driveis a free cloud-based storage service that enables users to store and access files online.


b) Dropbox- is a home for all your work. You can store and share files, collaborate on projects, and bring your best ideas to life—whether you’re working alone or as part of a team.

5.Web Page Creationencompasses a number of important elements including color, layout, and overall graphical appearance.

a) Wix- is an Israeli cloud-based web development platform that was first developed and popularized by the Israeli company also called Wix.



b) Weebly- is one of the most popular mobile-responsive website builders out there. 


6.Files Management-  is the storing naming, sorting and handling computer files.

a) Zamzar- a web application to convert files.


b) word2pdf- convert WORD files to PDF with this online tool.


  7.Mapping- a transformation taking the points of one space into the points of the same or another space.

a) Google Maps- offers powerful, user-friendly mapping technology and local business information — including business locations, contact information, and driving directions.



b) Wikimapiais a multilingual open-content collaborative map, where anyone can create place tags and share their knowledge.




Lesson 6

Imaging and Design for Online Environment


In this lesson i was able to know what is the meaning of  "Infographic" and also i learned how to used it.

INFOGRAPHICS

- Information graphics or infographics are used to represent information, statistical data, or knowledge in a graphical manner usually done in a creative way to attract the viewer’s attention.

Basic Principles of Graphics and Layout:

1. BalanceThe visual weight of objects, texture, colors, and space is evenly distributed on the screen.

2. Emphasis- An area in the design that may appear different in size, texture, shape or color to attract the viewer’s attention.

3. Movement- Visual elements guide the viewer’s eyes around the screen.
4. Pattern, Repetition, and RhythmThese are the repeating visual element on an image or layout to create unity in the layout or image. Rhythm is achieved when visual elements create a sense of organized movement.

5Proportion. Visual elements create a sense of unity where they relate well with one another.

6. Variety. This uses several design elements draw a viewer’s attention.

UPLOADING, SHARING, AND IMAGE HOSTING PLATFORMS

1.Imgur - With Imgur, you can store an unlimited number of photos without worrying about your photos expiring. You don’t need an account to upload photos to Imgur, but you can create a free account if you want to create albums, add captions, and upload your images via email attachments. 



2.Google Photos Google Photos is one of the best image-hosting resources for uploading high-quality photos in large quantities. The site has an automatic backup feature, so you don’t have to worry about losing any of your photos. 


3.Flickr -Flickr is one of the most famous image sharing sites on the web, and even though it’s gone through changes since being purchased by Yahoo, it’s still very popular with photographers. In addition to offering free hosting, it provides editing tools and allows you to organize your images into albums.



4.Photobucket - Photobucket is widely used for both personal and business purposes. Links from personal Photobucket accounts are often used for avatars displayed on Internet forums, storage of videos, embedding on blogs, and distribution in social networks. 


5.Imageshack ImageShack has a great interface that showcases its best photos in a layout similar to Pinterest’s. You have to create an account to upload photos, but the free account offers many helpful features.
6.Dropbox Dropbox lets you upload and store many types of file formats, including photos. It’s a free cloud storage provider that provides you with shareable links to individual files or folders.
7.Intagram- Instagram is a social networking app made for sharing photos and videos from a smartphone. Similar to Facebook or Twitter, everyone who creates an Instagram account has a profile and a news feed. When you post a photo or video on Instagram, it will be displayed on your profile.
